Please help our wonder boy Johnny Boy find his forever home.
Johnny’s story was shared a few months ago on our page.
Johnny, together with his 3 siblings, was born in a field to a street dog. When he was only six weeks old, a child smashed his leg with an iron bar.
Johnny Boy was left in agony but to everyone’s amazement, he survived. He was lucky to be spotted by Manuela Lambert who was on holiday in Romania and rescued all four puppies and managed to get a vet to dart the mother and get her sterilised. Sadly she was too wild for any chance of a successful socialisation and was therefore returned to her pack after a few days of recuperation.
When it all looked like the beginning of a bright future for the four siblings, they all came down with parvo. Sadly two died but to everyone’s amazement, brave Johnny Boy was one of the survivors.
Sadly the treatment to attempt to save his leg had to be delayed until he was strong enough to stand surgery. At the earliest opportunity, he had a rod inserted with the expectation that the bone would knit and heal. Sadly, it was not to be the case and his leg had to be amputated. But as you can see from the video, it takes more than losing a leg to break this brave boy’s spirit and nothing will stop him to enjoy a long and happy life!
Johnny Boy is 8 months old and will be on the larger side of medium. He is the cuddliest, most affectionate dog you could hope for.
He is good with people, dogs and cats. Johnny Boy has gone through hell and back in his short life and deserve a very loving family.
We are aware that being a tripod may put some prospective adopters off but I hope that animal lovers will look past his disability and see the beautiful boy he is and not his missing leg.
Also a huge thank you to everyone who donated towards his operation and travel to us.
If you feel that you have what it takes to offer this loving boy a fantastic life, please submit an adoption enquiry form available from http://www.leavalleydogrescue.co.uk/adoption-form/
